The Future of Insurance: Climate Change 2022 Webinar Series

Topic: Modeling & Climate Risk – Evolving Our Models for Disaster Risk

Join AXIS Capital and Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois for a webinar series on climate change and the insurance industry. To register, you must have a Zoom account.

Catastrophe models were introduced more than 40 years ago, and technological advances keep the models evolving rapidly. There are models to assess catastrophic events, hazard/intensity, vulnerability, and financial risks – with each making different assumptions. The complexities of each are creating a demand for more transparent and flexible models. Reinsurers and academics are fully engaged in the process. This webinar will look at recent research toward improving catastrophe models and what may lie ahead.

Moderated by Lynne McChristian, Gies College of Business, University of Illinois, with panelists James Morrison, Senior Cat Modeling Analyst, AXIS Re; and Ryan Sriver, Department of Atmospheric Sciences, University of Illinois.
