Preparing the next generation of industry leaders
ORMIR brings students from across campus together with industry professionals to explore careers in the risk management field. In the AXIS Risk Management Academy, students from a variety of disciplines across the university – including accounting, actuarial science, atmospheric science, computer science, engineering, finance, and statistics – can investigate professional development resources and opportunities to enrich their experiences of and interest in risk management and insurance. A mentor program pairs students with insurance practitioners to provide insider insights and career development expertise.
Activities
Each semester, students in the AXIS Risk Management Academy engage in real-world problem solving. They most recently investigated and analyzed risks and opportunities associated with social activism and made recommendations on how organizations could best manage risks around social activism, employee activism, disinformation campaigns, and risks of regulation of social media. Current students
Students participating in the AXIS Risk Management Academy (ARMA) connect with others in accounting, actuarial science, atmospheric science, data science, finance, financial planning, marketing and more through an inclusive, collaborative environment that focuses on skill development.
These students participate in hands-on projects and practicums and grow through mentorships with industry professionals. These individuals are well-suited for internships and employment in the risk management, insurance, and reinsurance fields.
